Rusty Duck in Dexter

Went there on a Thursday night. It was extremely busy and it took a while to get seated. I would recommend calling ahead for reservations. There were only 2 waitresses, so our service was sub-par. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, which was a very good (and large) burger. My wife and I shared it between the two of us, which was plenty. It was a bit overcooked, but still delicious. The onion rings were very good, although waitress forgot to bring us ketchup, and it was so busy that by the time we got it, half our onion rings were devoured. Overall, our first experience was "okay", although I wouldn't mind giving it a second chance on a less busy evening.

Awesome HUGE burgers. This burger could easily feed two people. Or order one for yourself and have leftovers. The burgers really are some of the best I've ever tasted.

Great small town restaurant. Well worth the drive from Des Moines. Menu has a nice variety of options. The staff is very friendly. I like the laid back atmosphere.

The food was excellent even better than the Big Stear in altoona but high priced like stear but I always say if you want Good food you need to be willing to pay top dollar

I ordered a 16oz Ribeye, medium rare, I received a sandwich ribeye medium well,When I pointed this out, I was brought a sirloin medium well. I also pointed that out, and they were unwilling to make it right... I was charged for a Top, couldn't even eat the "steak". I will not be back!I am so disappointed ☹️

Service still sucks! Staff does the best they can, but so understaffed!! We only go every few years to support local, but nothing changes. Food is still good.

Took my sister and little niece there for supper. Very delicious food and great service as well. I've been there before about 10 or 15 yrs ago and the food and service hasn't changed at all. Mouth watering steaks. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. 👍👍👍👍👍

If you want a fresh burger, that is HUGE, covered with bacon, mushrooms, carmalized onion, sauteed peppers, and voted one of the best in Iowa...go here. Burger temps cooked to order!

Fantastic food. Steak was perfect. Mac and cheese was amazing! Good selection of craft beer. Totally worth the drive from Des Moines! We will definitely be back!

Great food! Top Serloin was fantastic and the onion rings were amazing. We ordered the half order and 4 of us couldn't eat all the union rings.

They have great food and the service is always great. All our servers have been awesome every time we go there. We live 50 minutes away and never mind the drive.

Too crowded, food was OK but pretty pricey. 3 of the 5 of us had to send steaks and burgers back because they were too rare.

Hands down the best food ever!! Won't be disappointed, the owner definitely knows what he is doing, especially in the kitchen, since he always seems to be running the grill, which is rare to see in most restaurants! Even when they are busy, the orders are ready faster than they can be served and might I say to perfection, no joke! The staff are friendly and fantastic, even when busy and under pressure since everyone seems to know how great this place is, it can be busy on the weekends, but well worth a wait if needed and soooo worth the drive if your not from the area! Find out for yourself if you haven't already!

Their pork loin is amazing. You get (2) inch and a half chops of loin that is uber-tender and juicy. Most of their food is huge portions . The only thing I don't recommend there is the sirloin steak sandwich. We've tried them 3 times and all have been tough, even though they appear perfectly cooked. Seating is somewhat crowded and limited, so go early or later.

One of the best meals we've had in a long time. It's just far enough off I-80 to not catch a lot of interstate travel, but close enough that it really isn't out of there way. We'll be back.

Amazing food. We were passing thru on vacation and found out this was a good place to eat. We will definitely stop again if ever in the area. We have passed on the word about this wonderful establishment. The staff was very nice. Definitely worth stopping.

Good staff, generous portions, the place is full! WHO Radio's Van Harden suggested it, and might I recommend you call for a reservation! Opens at 5 PM some days, so don't think it's closed. The burger is huge, two adults could totally split it, just sayin'.

This place is definitely a well kept secret. Probably the best burger I have ever had. Went in on a Friday night in this very small town and had a wait of over 20 minutes. Where this would normally turn off your normal meat seeking individual, this actually meant to me that this place was worth waiting for. That was the case FOR SURE. I would have taken pictures of my food like the little hipster I am, but I feel like that wouldn't have gone with the vibe of the place. Which is actually a good thing. Good selection from the bar. Good menu. The atmosphere is your typical 70s main street vibe, but the food WILL BLOW YOU AWAY. My wife and I rode our motorcycles down from Ames to stop by, and we will be doing the same again in the near future. This time for STEAK!

On Friday and Saturday nights call ahead to see if reservation needed. Ultimate cheeseburger was outstanding. Very nice inside, don't let the exterior fool you.
